Minecraft X-Ray on Xbox
You cannot sideload a .mcpack on Xbox directly. The workaround — used by Xbox players since Bedrock launched — is to apply the pack on a linked Windows or mobile device and share it to Xbox through Realms or a local world. Free, no homebrew or jailbreak required.
Method 1: Realms (recommended)
1. Download the pack on Windows 10/11 or mobile
Use a device signed into the same Microsoft account as your Xbox. Download the .mcpack and open it — Minecraft imports the pack into your global library.
2. Create or edit a Realm
Start a Realms subscription or use one you already own. In the Realm's world settings, go to Resource Packs and move the X-Ray pack to Active. Save settings.
3. Join the Realm from your Xbox
Boot Minecraft on Xbox, sign into the same Microsoft account, and open the Realm. The X-Ray pack downloads automatically on first join.
Method 2: Minecraft companion app
The Minecraft app on Windows 10/11 can sync worlds and resource packs with an Xbox that shares the same Microsoft account. The flow:
- Sign into the Microsoft account on both Xbox and Windows.
- Download and open the .mcpack in Windows Minecraft.
- Copy your Xbox world to Windows (via Realms or manual save transfer), apply the pack, then copy the world back.
This route is fiddlier than Realms. Use it only if you do not have a Realms subscription and do not want one.
Frequently asked questions
Can I install X-Ray directly on Xbox without another device?
Not reliably. Xbox does not let you sideload .mcpack files from a browser. You need either a Windows 10/11 PC (via the Minecraft companion app) or a mobile device with the same Microsoft account to import the pack, then share it to Xbox through Realms or a local world.
How does the Realms method work for Xbox X-Ray?
Apply the X-Ray pack to a world on your Windows or mobile device. Upload that world to a Realm (or use an existing Realm). Sign into the same Microsoft account on your Xbox and join the Realm — the pack travels with the world and applies automatically.
Does X-Ray disable achievements on Xbox?
No. Bedrock resource packs do not disable achievements on any platform, including Xbox. The only things that disable achievements are behavior packs and experimental gameplay features.
Will I get banned from Xbox Live for using X-Ray?
Using X-Ray on your own Realm is between you and the Realm's members. Microsoft does not moderate resource packs across Xbox Live. Using X-Ray on a public server through Xbox is a different story — that server's anti-cheat can flag you as easily as it would a PC player.
What about Game Pass or Xbox Cloud Gaming versions?
Game Pass Minecraft on Xbox is the regular Bedrock Edition and supports the same Realms install method. Xbox Cloud Gaming streams the game from Microsoft's servers and does not support custom resource packs.
