Minecraft X-Ray on PlayStation
PS4 and PS5 do not support direct .mcpack install. The workaround is to apply the X-Ray pack on Windows or mobile, upload that world as a Realm, and join the Realm from your PlayStation with the same Microsoft account. Standard feature, no homebrew.
Full install flow
1. Install the pack on Windows or mobile
Use a device signed into the same Microsoft account as your PlayStation. Download and open the .mcpack — Minecraft imports the pack into your global library.
2. Create or reuse a Realm
Subscribe to Realms (or use an existing Realm). Apply the X-Ray pack to a world on that Realm from the world settings → Resource Packs screen.
3. Confirm PlayStation Plus + Microsoft sign-in
Sign into Minecraft on your PlayStation with the same Microsoft account. PlayStation Plus is required for online Minecraft on PS4 and PS5.
4. Join from PS4 or PS5
Launch Minecraft on your PlayStation, tap Play → Realms, and join the world. The X-Ray pack downloads automatically on first join. A few seconds after loading, stone and deepslate read as transparent.
Frequently asked questions
Can I install X-Ray directly on PS4 or PS5?
No. PlayStation Minecraft does not let you import .mcpack files from a USB drive or browser. The Realms workaround is the only supported method.
Do I need PlayStation Plus to use Realms on PS4 or PS5?
Yes. PlayStation Plus is required for online Minecraft on PlayStation, including joining Realms.
Will I get banned from PSN for using X-Ray on a Realm I own?
No. Sony does not moderate resource packs on Minecraft Realms. The Realm is your world. Using X-Ray on a public server from PlayStation is a different matter — that server's anti-cheat works the same as on PC.
Does X-Ray disable PlayStation trophies?
No. Minecraft Bedrock resource packs do not disable achievements or trophies on any platform. Behavior packs and experimental features do, but this is a resource pack — trophies stay on.
Is there any way to use X-Ray on PS4 without a Realms subscription?
No supported method. Realms is Minecraft's only official world-sharing path, and PlayStation restricts resource pack install to shared-world sources. If you do not want Realms, play on a device that supports direct install (Windows 10/11, iOS, or Android).
