About Minecraft X-Ray
Minecraft X-Ray is a free, maintained resource pack project. It exists so players can see through stone, deepslate, and netherrack to find ores and plan their mines without ad-gated downloads, stale files, or sketchy mod loaders.
What we ship
One pack per Minecraft version, kept current
Minecraft changes its resource pack format every few releases. Drop a pack built for 1.20.4 onto Minecraft 1.21 and the game flags it as incompatible — which is how most older X-Ray packs on the open web end up broken. We take a different approach. Every supported version gets its own build, tagged with the correct pack_format, and tested against a matching Minecraft install before it goes out.
Java Edition coverage runs from 1.8 all the way through 26.1.1 — 24 separate builds — and we add a new build within a few days of each Minecraft release. Bedrock Edition coverage runs from 1.16 through 1.21 as .mcpack files that install with a single tap on iOS, Android, and Windows 10/11.
Every file on this site is a direct HTTPS download. No AdFly, no Linkvertise, no account sign-up, no email capture. Free today, free tomorrow.
How we test
Every pack is opened in-game before release
For each Minecraft version we support we keep a matching copy of the game on hand. Every build of the pack gets loaded into the resource packs folder, selected, and inspected. We check that:
- Common filler blocks (stone, deepslate, dirt, gravel, netherrack, end stone, basalt, blackstone) read as transparent from every angle.
- Every ore — diamond, ancient debris, emerald, iron, gold, copper, redstone, lapis, coal, nether gold, nether quartz — stays fully opaque.
- Chests, spawners, shulker boxes, and other container blocks stay visible so you do not walk past a dungeon or stronghold.
- The
pack_formatvalue Minecraft reports matches the version the pack is listed under, so the game does not throw a red "incompatible" warning.
A build only ships once all four checks pass on a clean vanilla install. If Mojang changes the resource pack format mid-release, we rebuild the pack — we do not just ship the old file with a new version number in the filename.
Our take on servers
Built for your own world, not for cheating on someone else's
These packs exist for singleplayer worlds, private Realms, LAN games with friends, and servers you run yourself. Most public Minecraft servers run anti-cheat plugins that detect X-Ray behavior — and they are right to. Using X-Ray on a server that forbids it is against the rules and will get you banned.
If you are unsure, read our guide on whether X-Ray is bannable and how anti-xray plugins actually work before you log in.
What we do not do
No ads, no tracking scripts, no data collection
The site runs on Vercel. We use privacy-friendly analytics to see which pack versions are most requested (so we know where to spend testing time), and that is it. No third-party advertising networks, no retargeting pixels, no affiliate redirects, no email capture forms.
We do not bundle the pack with a "launcher," "installer," or executable. If someone ever offers you a Minecraft X-Ray .exe, it is not from us.
