What changed in Minecraft 26.2
Chaos Cubed added the underground Sulfur Caves biome, Sulfur Cube mobs, bands of sulfur and cinnabar, sulfur spikes, potent sulfur pools, new building-block families, and experimental Vulkan rendering support. Java 26.2 uses resource pack format 88 and requires Java 25.
Mining and X-Ray in 26.2
The 26.2 pack makes the naturally generated sulfur and cinnabar bands transparent in the same thin-edge style as stone and tuff, while keeping potent sulfur, sulfur spikes, ores, and other useful finds visible. Ore Y-levels are unchanged from the Caves & Cliffs distribution introduced in 1.18.

What this pack does
The Minecraft X-Ray pack for 26.2 hides common terrain blocks — stone, deepslate, dirt, gravel, logs, wool, concrete, netherrack, end stone, and dozens of others — so every ore in your cave system or strip mine stands out instantly. Diamonds, ancient debris, emeralds, iron, gold, copper, redstone, lapis, and coal all stay fully opaque and easy to spot from a distance.
Install it like any other resource pack: drop the MinecraftXray-26.2.zipfile into your game's resourcepacks folder and enable it from Options → Resource Packs. No mods required, no installer, no account sign-up. Works in singleplayer worlds and on any server that allows client-side resource packs.
Once enabled, underground areas can look pitch black because transparent blocks no longer scatter light. The fix is to max-out brightness in Video Settings, or edit options.txt to set gamma:5.0 for full fullbright lighting. See the install guide for a step-by-step walkthrough.
Good next step

Frequently asked questions
Is this resource pack safe?
Yes. It is a standard Minecraft resource pack — a single .zip containing replacement block textures. There are no executables, scripts, or mod loaders involved, and Minecraft loads it exactly like any other texture pack.
Do I need Forge, Fabric, or OptiFine?
No. The pack works on vanilla Minecraft. It is also compatible with OptiFine, Sodium, Iris, and Fabric clients if you already run them, but nothing extra is required.
Will it work on multiplayer servers?
Technically yes — resource packs load client-side — but most multiplayer servers run anti-cheat plugins that detect X-Ray behavior. Use it in singleplayer worlds, Realms you own, or LAN games with friends.
Why does everything look dark after I enable it?
Transparent blocks no longer scatter light, so caves can render pitch black. Open Options → Video Settings and drag Brightness to maximum. For full brightness, edit options.txt and set gamma to 5.0.
