How to Install X-Ray on iOS (iPhone and iPad)

If double-clicking does not trigger Minecraft, right-click the file, choose "Open with", and select Minecraft. If that also fails, manually move the .mcpack file into the resource packs directory:

Xbox does not have a file manager or browser that can download .mcpack files directly. There are two methods to get the pack onto your console.

2. Create a world with the X-Ray pack active and upload it to a Realm, or transfer the world using the Minecraft companion app.

1. On a mobile device or Windows PC, apply the X-Ray pack to a world and upload that world to a Realm.
2. Join the Realm from your Xbox. The resource pack is embedded in the world data and loads automatically on any device that joins.

Both methods require a Minecraft Realms subscription or access to a Realm. Once the pack is on the Realm, every device that joins will load it.

How to Install X-Ray on PlayStation (PS4/PS5)

PlayStation does not support sideloading resource packs. The only reliable method is the Realms workaround.

1. On a mobile device or Windows PC, install the X-Ray pack and create a world with it active.
2. Upload the world to a Minecraft Realm.
3. On your PlayStation, sign into the same Microsoft account linked to your Minecraft profile.
4. Open Minecraft and join the Realm. The X-Ray pack loads with the world automatically. No file transfer is needed on the PlayStation itself.

How to Install X-Ray on Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch uses the same Realms workaround as PlayStation.

1. Install the pack on a mobile device or Windows PC.
2. Create a world with the X-Ray pack active and upload it to a Realm.
3. On your Switch, join the Realm. The pack travels with the world and loads on any device that connects.

There is no way to directly import .mcpack files on Switch. The Realms method is currently the only option as of 2026.

How to Activate the Pack in World Settings

After importing the .mcpack file, the pack is stored on your device but is not automatically applied to any world. You need to activate it manually for each world you want to use it in.

1. Open Minecraft and go to the Play screen.
2. Either create a new world or tap the pencil icon next to an existing world to edit its settings.
3. Scroll down to Resource Packs (under the Add-Ons section on some versions).
4. You will see two columns: Available and Active. The X-Ray pack will appear under Available.

Does the X-Ray Resource Pack Disable Achievements?

No. Resource packs on Bedrock Edition do not disable achievements. This is one of the biggest advantages of using a resource pack over other methods.

Bedrock only disables achievements when you activate behavior packs or experimental gameplay features. A resource pack changes only the visual appearance of blocks. It does not modify game mechanics, spawn rates, or world generation. Your achievements, trophies, and Gamerscore remain fully intact.

This applies to all platforms: iOS, Android, Windows, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch. You can mine diamonds with X-Ray active and still earn the "Diamonds!" achievement.

What Blocks Does the X-Ray Pack Affect?

The pack makes the following blocks fully transparent or semi-transparent so you can see through them:

• Overworld filler: stone, deepslate, granite, diorite, andesite, tuff, dirt, grass block, gravel, sand, sandstone, red sandstone, clay, mud, terracotta variants
• Nether filler: netherrack, basalt, smooth basalt, blackstone, soul sand, soul soil, magma block
• End filler: end stone
• Water and lava: made translucent so you can see ores behind fluid blocks

All ores remain fully visible with their original textures: diamond, iron, gold, copper, coal, lapis lazuli, redstone, emerald, ancient debris, nether gold, and nether quartz. Structures like dungeons, mineshafts, strongholds, and buried treasure are also visible since the surrounding blocks become transparent.

Troubleshooting Common Bedrock Issues

Black or Glitchy Blocks

Bedrock Edition handles block transparency differently than Java. Some devices render transparent blocks as solid black squares or produce visual flickering. This is most common on older phones and the Nintendo Switch.

To fix this:

• Increase your render distance. Short render distances can cause chunk-boundary artifacts with transparent textures.
• Turn off Fancy Graphics. Set graphics to Fast in Settings > Video.
• Restart the world. Leave the world and rejoin to force a texture reload.
• On lower-end devices, reduce your simulation distance to 4 chunks.

Pack Not Showing Up

If the X-Ray pack does not appear in your Resource Packs list after importing, check the following:

• Verify you downloaded the Bedrock (.mcpack) file, not the Java (.zip) file. They are different formats and are not interchangeable.

Version Mismatch

• Max your brightness.Go to Settings > Video and increase brightness to the highest value. Transparent blocks cause underground areas to appear darker than normal.
