How to Get X-Ray in Minecraft Bedrock Edition (2026 Guide)

Step-by-step guide to installing X-Ray on Minecraft Bedrock Edition for iOS, Android, Windows, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. Free .mcpack download.

X-Ray resource packs are not limited to Java Edition. Minecraft Bedrock Edition has full support for custom resource packs, and the Minecraft X-Ray pack works on every platform Bedrock runs on. This 2026 guide covers installation on iOS, Android, Windows 10/11, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.

What Platforms Does the Bedrock X-Ray Pack Support?

Bedrock Edition runs on six major platforms. The X-Ray resource pack works on all of them, though the installation method differs between mobile/desktop and console devices.

  • iOS (iPhone and iPad): direct .mcpack import via Safari or the Files app
  • Android: direct .mcpack import via Chrome or any file manager
  • Windows 10/11: double-click .mcpack for automatic import
  • Xbox (Series X/S, One): Minecraft companion app or Realms transfer
  • PlayStation (PS4, PS5): Realms workaround from mobile or Windows
  • Nintendo Switch: Realms workaround from mobile or Windows

On mobile and desktop, you download the .mcpack file and open it. Minecraft handles the rest. On consoles, there is no direct file import, so you apply the pack through a Realm from another device. The pack then travels with the world, and your console loads it automatically when you join.

Where to Download the Bedrock X-Ray Pack

The latest Bedrock X-Ray resource packs are available on the Bedrock download page. We provide .mcpack files for Bedrock 1.20.x and 1.21.x. Both are free, direct downloads with no ad gates or link shorteners.

Download the version that matches your current Minecraft installation. If you are running the latest Minecraft update in 2026, grab the 1.21 pack. If you are on an older world or device, the 1.20 pack has you covered. Bedrock packs are forward-compatible, so the 1.21 pack will continue working on future minor updates.

How to Install X-Ray on iOS (iPhone and iPad)

  1. Open Safari and go to the Bedrock download page.
  2. Tap the download button for your version. Safari will download the .mcpack file.
  3. When the download completes, tap the file in Safari's download indicator (the blue arrow icon in the address bar) or open it from the Files app under On My iPhone > Downloads.
  4. iOS will ask which app should open the file. Select Minecraft. If Minecraft is not listed, tap "More" and scroll to find it.
  5. Minecraft will launch and display a confirmation message: "Successfully imported." The pack is now installed.
  6. To activate it, open Minecraft, create a new world or edit an existing one, scroll to Resource Packs in the world settings, and tap the X-Ray pack to move it from Available to Active.

If the .mcpack file opens in a different app or does not trigger Minecraft, rename the file extension from .mcpack to .zip, then back to .mcpack. This forces iOS to re-evaluate the file association.

How to Install X-Ray on Android

  1. Open Chrome and navigate to the Bedrock download page.
  2. Tap the download button for your version.
  3. Once the download finishes, tap the notification that appears in your notification shade. Alternatively, open the Files app or any file manager and navigate to Downloads.
  4. Tap the .mcpack file. Android will display an "Open with" dialog. Select Minecraft.
  5. Minecraft imports the pack and shows a success message. If the file opens in a different app, long-press the file in your file manager, tap the three-dot menu, and choose "Open with" to manually select Minecraft.
  6. Activate the pack in your world settings under Resource Packs. Move X-Ray from Available to Active.

On some Android devices, the .mcpack file association is not registered correctly. If Minecraft does not appear in the "Open with" list, copy the .mcpack file to this directory using a file manager:

/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.mojang.minecraftpe/files/games/com.mojang/resource_packs/

You will need to extract the .mcpack (it is a renamed .zip) into a subfolder within that directory. After restarting Minecraft, the pack will appear in your resource pack list.

How to Install X-Ray on Windows 10/11 (Bedrock)

  1. Download the .mcpack file from the Bedrock download page.
  2. Double-click the .mcpack file. Windows recognizes the file extension and opens Minecraft automatically.
  3. Minecraft imports the pack and displays a success notification inside the game.
  4. Go to your world settings, open Resource Packs, and move X-Ray from Available to Active.

If double-clicking does not trigger Minecraft, right-click the file, choose "Open with", and select Minecraft. If that also fails, manually move the .mcpack file into the resource packs directory:

%localappdata%\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.mojang\resource_packs

Press Win+R, paste the path above, and press Enter. Extract the .mcpack contents into a new folder inside this directory. Restart Minecraft and the pack will appear.

How to Install X-Ray on Xbox

Xbox does not have a file manager or browser that can download .mcpack files directly. There are two methods to get the pack onto your console.

Method 1: Minecraft Companion App

  1. On a Windows 10/11 PC, install the pack using the steps above.
  2. Create a world with the X-Ray pack active and upload it to a Realm, or transfer the world using the Minecraft companion app.
  3. On your Xbox, sign into the same Microsoft account and open Minecraft. The world (with the pack applied) will sync across devices.

Method 2: Realms Workaround

  1. On a mobile device or Windows PC, apply the X-Ray pack to a world and upload that world to a Realm.
  2. Join the Realm from your Xbox. The resource pack is embedded in the world data and loads automatically on any device that joins.

Both methods require a Minecraft Realms subscription or access to a Realm. Once the pack is on the Realm, every device that joins will load it.

How to Install X-Ray on PlayStation (PS4/PS5)

PlayStation does not support sideloading resource packs. The only reliable method is the Realms workaround.

  1. On a mobile device or Windows PC, install the X-Ray pack and create a world with it active.
  2. Upload the world to a Minecraft Realm.
  3. On your PlayStation, sign into the same Microsoft account linked to your Minecraft profile.
  4. Open Minecraft and join the Realm. The X-Ray pack loads with the world automatically. No file transfer is needed on the PlayStation itself.

How to Install X-Ray on Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch uses the same Realms workaround as PlayStation.

  1. Install the pack on a mobile device or Windows PC.
  2. Create a world with the X-Ray pack active and upload it to a Realm.
  3. On your Switch, join the Realm. The pack travels with the world and loads on any device that connects.

There is no way to directly import .mcpack files on Switch. The Realms method is currently the only option as of 2026.

How to Activate the Pack in World Settings

After importing the .mcpack file, the pack is stored on your device but is not automatically applied to any world. You need to activate it manually for each world you want to use it in.

  1. Open Minecraft and go to the Play screen.
  2. Either create a new world or tap the pencil icon next to an existing world to edit its settings.
  3. Scroll down to Resource Packs (under the Add-Ons section on some versions).
  4. You will see two columns: Available and Active. The X-Ray pack will appear under Available.
  5. Tap the X-Ray pack, then tap Activate (or drag it to the Active column). If you have multiple packs, place X-Ray at the top of the list so its textures take priority.
  6. Launch the world. Stone, dirt, deepslate, and other filler blocks will become transparent, revealing ores and structures underground.

Does the X-Ray Resource Pack Disable Achievements?

No. Resource packs on Bedrock Edition do not disable achievements. This is one of the biggest advantages of using a resource pack over other methods.

Bedrock only disables achievements when you activate behavior packs or experimental gameplay features. A resource pack changes only the visual appearance of blocks. It does not modify game mechanics, spawn rates, or world generation. Your achievements, trophies, and Gamerscore remain fully intact.

This applies to all platforms: iOS, Android, Windows, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch. You can mine diamonds with X-Ray active and still earn the "Diamonds!" achievement.

What Blocks Does the X-Ray Pack Affect?

The pack makes the following blocks fully transparent or semi-transparent so you can see through them:

  • Overworld filler: stone, deepslate, granite, diorite, andesite, tuff, dirt, grass block, gravel, sand, sandstone, red sandstone, clay, mud, terracotta variants
  • Nether filler: netherrack, basalt, smooth basalt, blackstone, soul sand, soul soil, magma block
  • End filler: end stone
  • Water and lava: made translucent so you can see ores behind fluid blocks

All ores remain fully visible with their original textures: diamond, iron, gold, copper, coal, lapis lazuli, redstone, emerald, ancient debris, nether gold, and nether quartz. Structures like dungeons, mineshafts, strongholds, and buried treasure are also visible since the surrounding blocks become transparent.

Troubleshooting Common Bedrock Issues

Black or Glitchy Blocks

Bedrock Edition handles block transparency differently than Java. Some devices render transparent blocks as solid black squares or produce visual flickering. This is most common on older phones and the Nintendo Switch.

To fix this:

  • Increase your render distance. Short render distances can cause chunk-boundary artifacts with transparent textures.
  • Turn off Fancy Graphics. Set graphics to Fast in Settings > Video.
  • Restart the world. Leave the world and rejoin to force a texture reload.
  • On lower-end devices, reduce your simulation distance to 4 chunks.

Pack Not Showing Up

If the X-Ray pack does not appear in your Resource Packs list after importing, check the following:

  • Verify you downloaded the Bedrock (.mcpack) file, not the Java (.zip) file. They are different formats and are not interchangeable.
  • Try importing again by tapping or double-clicking the .mcpack file. If Minecraft says "Import started" but nothing appears, the file may be corrupted. Redownload it from the Bedrock page.
  • On Android, confirm you have storage permissions enabled for Minecraft. Go to Settings > Apps > Minecraft > Permissions > Storage and enable it.
  • Restart Minecraft completely (force-close the app, then relaunch it).

Version Mismatch

Bedrock shows a warning when a resource pack's target version does not match the installed game version. In most cases, the pack still works. Tap "Continue" or "Yes" to load it anyway.

If you see broken textures or blocks reverting to their default appearance, the pack is genuinely incompatible with your game version. Check the Bedrock download page for the correct version. We update our packs for each major Bedrock release.

Bedrock Resource Pack vs Java Resource Pack vs Java Mod

Minecraft X-Ray is available in three formats. Here is how they compare:

The Bedrock resource pack is the simplest option for mobile and console players. If you play Java Edition, the Java resource pack provides the same transparent-block approach with broader version coverage. For advanced features like instant toggling, fullbright, and ore highlighting, the Java Fabric mod is the most feature-rich option.

All three formats are free. You can browse every available version on the versions page.

Tips for Using X-Ray on Bedrock

  • Max your brightness.Go to Settings > Video and increase brightness to the highest value. Transparent blocks cause underground areas to appear darker than normal.
  • Use coordinates.Enable "Show Coordinates" in your world settings so you can track your Y-level while mining. Diamonds are most common at Y=-59 in both Java and Bedrock.
  • Keep the pack updated. When Minecraft releases a major Bedrock update, check the Bedrock page for an updated pack. Using an outdated pack may cause new blocks to render incorrectly.
  • Combine with the installation guide if you also play on Java and want X-Ray on both editions.
