What this pack does

The Minecraft X-Ray pack for 1.20.3 – 1.20.4 hides common terrain blocks — stone, deepslate, dirt, gravel, logs, wool, concrete, netherrack, end stone, and dozens of others — so every ore in your cave system or strip mine stands out instantly. Diamonds, ancient debris, emeralds, iron, gold, copper, redstone, lapis, and coal all stay fully opaque and easy to spot from a distance.

Install it like any other resource pack: drop the MinecraftXray-1.20.3.zipfile into your game's resourcepacks folder and enable it from Options → Resource Packs. No mods required, no installer, no account sign-up. Works in singleplayer worlds and on any server that allows client-side resource packs.

Once enabled, underground areas can look pitch black because transparent blocks no longer scatter light. The fix is to max-out brightness in Video Settings, or edit options.txt to set gamma:5.0 for full fullbright lighting. See the install guide for a step-by-step walkthrough.

Frequently asked questions

Is the X-Ray pack for Minecraft 1.20.3 – 1.20.4 safe?

Yes. It is a standard Minecraft resource pack — a single .zip containing replacement block textures. No executables, no scripts, no mod loader. Minecraft 1.20.3 – 1.20.4 loads it exactly like any other texture pack, so antivirus scanners treat it like a regular image archive.

Do I need Forge, Fabric, or OptiFine to run this on 1.20.3 – 1.20.4?

No. The pack works on vanilla Minecraft 1.20.3 – 1.20.4. It is also compatible with OptiFine, Sodium, Iris, and Fabric clients if you already run those, but nothing extra is required.

Will the X-Ray pack for 1.20.3 – 1.20.4 work on servers?

Technically yes — resource packs load client-side — but most multiplayer servers run anti-cheat plugins that detect X-Ray behavior. Use the pack in singleplayer worlds, Realms you own, or LAN games with friends.

Why is everything dark when I enable the 1.20.3 – 1.20.4 pack?

Transparent blocks no longer scatter light. Open Options → Video Settings and drag Brightness to maximum. For full brightness, edit options.txt and set gamma to 5.0.
